Here are some known updates on the Debbie Collier case.
In the 911 call made by her sister Diane Shirley.
“The paint went everywhere, and the driver was trying to convince my sister not to tell the cops that he was driving because he was out on parole,” Shirley says. “And there was a stipulation to his parole that he could not drive.”
He however is not on Parole but does not have his driver’s license.
Collier’s husband, Steven Collier, also told the dispatcher that his stepdaughter, Amanda Bearden, found his wife’s purse in the home. But her purse was with her in the family dollar surveillance video.
Daughter Amanada Bearden did not call 9-11 right away when receiving the venmo saying they are not going to let me go. She did not call until the next day but stated on the 9-11 call that she did in-fact call.
Barbara Bearden, the stepmom of Debbie’s daughter Amanda, died suddenly on July 28 at the age of 62.
The husband of murdered Georgia realtor Debbie Collier broke his silence Friday — nearly two weeks after her naked burnt body was found in a ravine about 60 miles from the couple’s home.
“She was a beautiful woman and I loved her,” Steve Collier, 67, told The Daily Mail from his Athens home.
“It has been a long two weeks and I’m very tired,” he reportedly said, while fighting back tears. “My wife was a wonderful person.”
The widower later spoke with The Post at his home and said investigators haven’t shared many details with him beyond what’s been made public.
“Police found my wife’s body in Habersham County, near Clarkesville, Georgia. They said it wasn’t suicide and it wasn’t a kidnapping,” he said. “They said it was murder. If they have any more information, they haven’t shared it with me yet.”
Police have not named any suspects or motives in the murder case, and were waiting for autopsy results to determine Collier’s cause of death.
Debbie, 59, was found dead near Tallulah Falls on Sept. 11, a day after leaving her home in a SUV that was rented because her vehicle was in the shop, police said.
Her daughter Amanda Bearden, 36, told police that her mom had Venmoed her $2,385 along with the message “They are not going to let me go, love you” on Sept. 10.
A neighbor told The Post she heard “a commotion” at the Collier residence on the evening of Sept. 9, and had frequently heard screaming coming from the home.
“Somebody comes up to visit on the weekends [and] in the evenings, and there’s loud screaming and fighting,” the neighbor said, saying the visitor was a younger woman.
Steven Collier told cops he last encountered his wife at 9 p.m. the night before her disappearance and didn’t see her leave the following morning because they sleep in separate beds due to his snoring.
Her rental vehicle — which was found near her body — was still in the driveway the next morning when he went to work, he said.
Bearden and her boyfriend, who both have a history of domestic arrests, said Thursday they had been interrogated by detectives who also confiscated their phones.
Andrew Gieregrich is a former MMA fighter and also Amanda Bearden ex-boyfriend and Amanda Bearden is Debbie Collier’s daughter.
Amanda Bearden had a protective order on Andrew at the time of the video was taken. Amanda also claims that Andrew hit her and left marks such as this bruise.
He also wrote this alleged note. As well as has a history of domestic violence. On May 10th, 2021 with this green marker making this chilling note. Debbie Collier also posted on May 10th on her facebook that she “Fell” And had these bruises from that fall but some speculate they allegedly came from Andrew.
He was jailed for six days last week, beginning on Sept. 16, on a probation violation and ordered to show proof of substance abuse treatment within 20 days, court records show. He has since been released and was spotted back at the home Friday. His reason for being arrested in June for an active warrant after police responded to Bearden’s home for a domestic violence call. Three months later, police arrested him again for violating an order of protection, beating on her door and disorderly conduct.
Yet Andrew and Amanda are seen together driving up to Amanda’s house according to fox news
Beardon and Giegerich said they had last seen Debbie the previous day when she had bought them lunch.
Police records show Beardon and Giegerich have long had a volatile relationship.
After the May 2021 incident, a fast track arraignment was made for him in June 2021, noting it was his “second or subsequent arrest for a family violence offence” and putting the ban on him contacting Bearden.
However, he was charged with violating that order in September 2021 after he went to Amanda’s residence and allegedly “banged on doors and windows demanding to get inside,” according to the court documents.
That same month, he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI, having marijuana, not wearing a seat belt, not having required tag lights and reckless driving.
He pleaded guilty to not having the required tag lights and reckless driving, and the rest of the charges were dismissed.
Giegerich pleaded guilty in January to the domestic violence counts against him and was sentenced to 12 months probation.
He was then arrested again for violating his parole on August 26 and ordered to serve six days in jail and to show proof he had entered a substance abuse treatment program within 20 days.
Amanda Bearden and Andrew Giegerich arrive together at her house Friday. Bearden’s mother Debbie Collier was found dead under gruesome circumstances off a rural highway earlier this month.
In 2008,in the case with Amanda Bearden prosecutors dismissed an obstruction charge related to a domestic call to her apartment after she successfully completed a six-month pretrial intervention program, court documents show. Police found her with a six-inch scratch on her face after they said witnesses told them “a female was being beat up by a male inside.”
Investigators determined that the injury was “a few days old” and saw no new injuries on her arms, neck or face. “[The witness] said there had been reports that the female had been coming in late to work with bruises,” according to the report. Police arrested her then-boyfriend.
Bearden faced charges twice in 2012, in June and November, for allegedly battering a different ex-boyfriend and criminal trespassing.
It’s not clear when the couple first began dating, but Giegerich’s criminal record in Clarke County appears to begin in 2020, with domestic battery and disorderly conduct charges involving Bearden. He pleaded guilty to three counts and received a sentence of probation.
Amanda Bearden, 36, had a series of meetings with law enforcement in Athens, Georgia, most recently due to a home accident in May 2021.
According to a police report obtained by The Post, Bearden alleged that her boyfriend Andrew Tyler Giegerich broke into her home, yelled at and assaulted her, with bruises on the shoulders and arms of the police.
after a row with current boyfriend Andrew Giegerich, police charged her with falsely reporting a crime – however prosecutors ultimately dropped the case.
They went after Giegerich on charges that included battery and property damage, and he pleaded guilty. The responding officer initially wrote down a burglary charge, but after allegedly catching Bearden in a lie, said there was no longer evidence to support it.
On Sept. 4, 2021, police arrived at Bearden’s home and encountered Giegerich outside. Bodycam video obtained by Fox News Digital shows a long exchange, in which he discussed her alleged drug use and claimed she was stealing money from his paychecks on a weekly basis because he let her link his account to her phone before they split up.
In January, he pleaded guilty to reckless driving after a DUI arrest.
April 30, 2022 Debbie gets into a car accident
A “metal item” fell off the roof of a 2009 GMC Savana van and slammed into the driver’s side front end of Collier’s 2020 Ford Ranger, causing an accident, according to the incident report. No one was injured.
Police cited Miguel Martinez, 48, for allegedly driving without a license and operating a vehicle without securing the load.
Steve Collier her husband said he last saw Debbie Collier around 9pm and that her rental car was in the driveway.
Steve then said he went to sleep He told investigators he slept separately from his wife because he snored and that he didn’t see her before she went missing
Around 11pm Somebody comes up to visit on the weekends [and] in the evenings, and there’s loud screaming and fighting, saying the visitor was a younger woman. this was a statement made by her neighbor. This is to believe it may be her daughter Amanada.
Goes into the Family dollar at 2:58
Buys a tarp, poncho, lighter, red tote bag, and paper towels
Around 3:17 Collier wired her daughter, Amanda Bearden, $2,385 and included a chilling note that said: They are not going to let me go, love you there is a key to the house in the blue flowerpot by the door. Bearden allegedly tried to call her mother but go no response from her.
3:19 She pulls out of the parking lot.
Debbie was in the Family dollar at the time of the venmo was sent
3 hours later her stepdad calls 911 and files a missing persons report.
6:01 pm he called the police
September 11. 2022:
12:20 Police used the SiriusXM radio in her rented Chrysler Pacifica to track its whereabouts to Georgia Route 15 in Clarkesville, an hour’s drive away from where Collier, a real estate office manager, lived in Athens.
A K-9 unit found her remains under grisly circumstances down an embankment in the woods a quarter-mile from the vehicle — nude and partially burned, with “charring” on her abdomen and her right hand clutching a tree. Those signs also indicate the attack may be familiar with the area and attempted to dump and hide the body. Nearby, they found a red tote bag, a partially burned blue tarp and the remains of a fire. Collier’s vehicle was abandoned near the scene, investigators believes her killer may have left on foot or had an accomplice waiting in another vehicle.
September 21, 2022:
Investigators have found no evidence of either a suicide or a kidnapping. Detectives have served “several” search warrants and were looking to identify persons of interest.
Her murder, according to a criminal profiler and psychotherapist with experience interviewing serial killers, shows signs of a possible repeat sex offender but could also be the work of “a budding serial killer. This has all the signs of a sexual attack with volcanic rage, I have to think he was trying to cover his DNA.
This type of work is usually not done by a woman — I’m not saying this couldn’t be done by a man and a woman, a team, but unless there was a hefty insurance policy or something, why not just kill her?
Why do you got to burn her? The burning is important to us. Is it a signature? Are we going to see more of that?
If so, that could be an alarming sign.
Do we have a budding serial killer on our hands?
.I have to believe this is somebody who has prior sexual offenses, because I believe they’re trying to cover up their DNA.
If they were just after her money, why does she have to be naked?
This is cruel and unusual, but I’ve seen it before — in the case of Vanessa Marcotte, killed in Princeton, Massachusetts in 2016.
In that case, the victim was also discovered in the woods, with signs of sexual assault and burns on her body.
The suspect, Angelo Colon-Ortiz, had attempted to destroy evidence of his own DNA on Marcotte’s body with flames
Colon-Ortiz is currently jailed in Massachusetts awaiting a Dec. 8 trial.
It’s unclear where the attack on Collier took place. If it began at her home, there could have been a grudge or a financial motive, But it could have happened while she was out, in a possible carjacking or some other random attack.
Her daughter, Amanda Bearden, told investigators that her mother’s car was in the shop at the time and that she left home in a rented Chrysler Pacifica SUV, carrying only her license and a debit card.
Authorities tracked the rental vehicle to a highway nearly 60 miles away with help from Sirius XM radio and arrived around 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 11. The car was found unlocked and unoccupied off of Georgia’s State Route 15
Officers and K-9 units found a red tote bag about a quarter-mile from the vehicle and “what appeared to be the remains of a fire” nearby.
Downhill from the scene, investigators found a blue tarp with burn marks, and “a nude female laying on her back, grasping a small tree with her right hand,” according to the incident report. Her remains were “apparently burned with what appeared to be charring to her abdomen.”
The Habersham County Coroner’s Office transferred Collier’s remains to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab for an autopsy, and GBI was also sent “various items of possible evidence” for enhanced analysis.
Collier’s last known communication was through the Venmo app, sending more than $2,300 to her daughter, according to the incident report. The payment also included a note, paraphrased in the report as saying, “They won’t let me go, there is a key to the house underneath a flower pot.”
Before the remains were discovered, Bearden, who had been given an approximate location of the vehicle by Athens-Clarke County police, arrived on scene “in a hysterical state,” according to police documents. She told investigators her mother did not suffer from any known mental health issues or “suicidal tendencies.”
Debbie Collier, the missing mother was discovered to have rented an SUV on September 10 and left the house she and her husband shared. The missing mother from Athens sent an eerie last message to her daughter before she was found dead in a ravine. A harrowing report reveals that Debbie Collier’s body was found in a Georgia county one day after she sent Amanda Bearden, her daughter $2,385 via Venmo with the message, “They are not going to let me go, love you.”
When Bearden tried to call her mother on Saturday, September 10, after receiving the message, her mother didn’t pick up any of her calls, so Bearden reported her missing to the Athens Clarke County Police. Investigators say that they’re treating her death as a homicide rather than a suicide. Police also are paying attention to the disturbing statement her daughter made which suggested that there may have been a violent kidnapping. Who could have done such a thing and why? And who was this that Debbie knowing would kill her so she felt like she had to wire money to her daughter?
