12-year-old shot

In the lobby of a Brooklyn apartment building, a 12-year-old child was shot by a young man who was playing with a gun, according to authorities.

Just before 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday, the boy was shot in the left shoulder at the apartment complex in the Brownsville district, according to police.

He was sent urgently to Maimonides Hospital Center and is anticipated to make a full recovery.

According to authorities, the incident took place as a group of eight to twelve young people were “playing or hanging out” in the apartment building’s lobby.

According to witness or camera testimony, the kids were apparently playing with a gun when detectives think one of them pulled out a magazine, pointed the gun at the victim, and fired the trigger.

“That’s the direction the investigation is now going. There is still one round in the chamber as he removes the magazine. Witnesses claim that once he points it and fires, they ask, “What did you do?” How did you act? James Essig, chief of detectives for the NYPD, said

No debates or arguments existed before this episode, according to Essig. According to him, police found a.380 Smith & Wesson pistol and one.380 shell casing at the site.

Once the shot was fired, the group dispersed, leaving the weapon in their wake, according to Essig.

No arrests were made right away. Police are appealing to the general public for assistance in identifying the person who shot the 12-year-old.
