According to authorities, a 9-year-old child who vanished from an IKEA shop in Brooklyn, New York, on Wednesday night has died after being rescued from a nearby waterway by first responders following a frantic three-hour search.
The toddler can be seen leaving the furniture megastore’s back entrance, which leads to a boardwalk and pier on the Erie Basin, in surveillance footage that was shot at 9 p.m. local time on Wednesday, according to the New York City Police Department. Police have not yet released the boy’s name.
Prior to the boy being located after midnight on Thursday in the Red Hook Channel, investigators reportedly found “articles of clothing” that belonged to him, according to the NYPD.
